What a phenomenal start to our second year together—kicking off with a sky full of fireworks and fellowship! Several of our members joined the Calabases Rotary Club for their annual July 3rd celebration at the Hollywood Bowl, featuring none other than Earth, Wind & Fire. Over 100 Rotarians from District 5280 came together for an unforgettable evening of music, laughter, great food, and community spirit.
Board of Directors – Energized and Ready! We held our first Board of Directors meeting on Monday evening, and it was a fantastic combination of productivity and camaraderie. Our energized and dedicated board is already hard at work laying the foundation for an exciting, impactful, and service-oriented year ahead.
We invite YOU to be part of the action! Join a committee and share your unique talents, ideas, and passion. Reach out to any of our Board members to get involved:
Nancy Voss – Club Service Committee
Kurtis Sundblom – Bylaws Committee
Helena Goto – Foundation Committee
Monica Trepany – Community Relations Committee
Peter Smyth – Membership Committee
First Club Meeting – This Thursday! We’re thrilled to welcome three new members into our Rotary family during our first meeting of the year. Our very own Past District Governor, Bette Hall, will lead the induction. We’ll also honor one of our members with a Paul Harris Award, share highlights from the Rotary International Convention, and open the floor to YOU—bring your ideas for service projects, activities, speakers, or ways we can grow and improve as a club.
Key Updates for the New Year
Board Meetings: All Board of Directors meetings will now be held on the second Tuesday of each month, with a focus on in-person gatherings whenever possible.
Sunset Sail Fundraiser: Our club’s largest fundraiser has a new date: August 28th. Visit our website for details and help us spread the word!
WhatsApp Group (Members Only): Stay in the loop with last-minute updates and event reminders. Scan the QR code or click on the link to join. If you run into any issues accessing the group, please reach out to Joerg Rose. More than half of our club is already connected—don’t miss out!
Community Support in Action We’re proud to support Camp Pendleton and Fort MacArthur with much-needed donations. Camp Pendleton is home to over 70,000 Marines and 10,000 children under age five, with more than 160 babies born each month. Many families arrive with very little, and essentials are urgently needed.
We’re collecting Target gift cards ($20 and up) over the next two weeks. Please bring your donations to our meeting this Thursday or our Happy Hour on July 17th. Can’t make it? Reach out to Monica Trepany—she’ll be happy to coordinate a Venmo donation and pick up a gift card on your behalf.
Let’s show our gratitude and support for those who serve!
Looking forward to seeing you Thursday!
With appreciation and excitement, Tracey Thompson Busa President, Marina del Rey Rotary 2025–2026
