KEYNOTE SPEAKER ~ CAPTAIN ARMELLINI ~ FIRE STATION #110
We were honored to have Captain Armellini and his crew from the Marina del Rey Fire Station #110 join us and discuss the many ways we can partner to support the needs of our community! We identified the growing needs of our aging community, safety on the water, concerns of our unhoused population, and best fire safety practices within the marina!
We look forward to having Captain Armellini join us in future meetings and maybe even become a member! Fire Station #110 and it's crew are doing a fantastic job in the community and we are honored to support them!
CONGRATULATIONS BGC YOUTH SAILING! $20,000!!
Foundation Director, Helen Goto, presents Club Leaders from the Boys & Girls Club Youth Sailing Program with a giant check for $20,000 to support their amazing program! This Summer they were able to provide access and experiences on the water to over 2,000 youth from throughout the County of Los Angeles. Most of whom had never seen the water, let alone sail on a boat, or participate in Fast & Fun Sailing!
We hold steadfast in our commitment to supporting this wonderful initiative in the Marina based out of Mother's Beach, and join our County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell in her commitment to providing equitable access and opportunities to Marina del Rey for all youth and families!
Paul Harris Achievements
President Elect, Tracey Thompson Busa, presents two of our amazing members with special recognition on behalf of the Paul Harris Society. Congratulations to members, Gail Brooks and Bonnie Cullinan, for their achievements and ongoing commitment in being Paul Harris Fellows!
Members of the Month, July 2024!
Congratulations and THANK YOU to both Dave and Nancy Voss for all that they have done to support our Club and community in the month of July!
Dave and Nancy hosted a fundraiser on their boat, coordinating with the 1736 Family Crisis Center and community hero Rob DeCou and six other kayakers and 11 MdR Rotarians. Their mission? To kayak 29 miles from Catalina to San Pedro in six hours to bring awareness to human trafficking and raise an impressive $30,000 for the cause!
Nancy has also joined the Culture Committee and been an integral part of planning our upcoming events and socials, and Dave has been instrumental in providing advice and offering their beautiful boat for members to use in fellowship!
We are so very grateful to have both of your talents, time, and energy as we continue to develop our wonderful MdR Rotary Club!

Wells Bring Hope is a Los Angeles based nonprofit 501(c)(3) committed to saving lives with safe water in Niger, West Africa, one of the poorest countries in the world where one out of 7 children dies before their 5th birthday. When a well is drilled, lives are transformed for generations to come. Child mortality is reduced by 70+%, girls go to school, and women are trained to start their own small businesses. Wells Bring Hope is committed to sustainability, which is why villagers learn how to maintain their well and we continue working with every village for 15+ years, with the help of our partner, World Vision. Wells Bring Hope is a volunteer-run organization that directs 100% of all donations directly to drilling wells.
