As we celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day yesterday and throughout this week, we are inspired by his profound words:
"Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?"
This question challenges us to live out our Rotary motto, “Service Above Self,” and to embrace our identity as People of Action! Now is the time to for us to rise up, serve, inspire, and make a difference in the lives of those around us.
This past weekend at the Heart of the Harbor Relief Center, under the leadership of Tracey Thompson Busa, we witnessed the incredible power of community in action. Over 50 families in need visited the center, and thanks to the tireless efforts of more than 40 dedicated volunteers, care boxes were assembled and delivered to those unable to reach us. Additionally, under the guidance of Nancy Voss, our distribution efforts transported 6 - 26ft U-Haul trucks (nearly 50,000lbs) filled with critical supplies directly to families and partners working in the fire-impacted areas, ensuring those in need received essential support.
Together, we have been a beacon of hope for those facing immense challenges, so let’s build on this momentum! We invite you to volunteer with us this weekend or next at the Heart of the Harbor Relief Center to continue this important work. Please contact our President Elect, Tracey Thompson Busa!
