President's Message
Wow what an amazing 90 days we've had!! I have had so many people reach out to me in the last week about our club, both guests who have come to meetings, and Rotarians from others clubs, who all want to know how we do what we do!
My response: "We have an amazing membership of humans who have a passion and drive to be the best!"
And we really do!! I want to take a moment to thank our amazing Board of Directors who put in a lot of time behind the scenes week after week. I jokingly count down the number of days until July 1, 2025, but in all reality, it is a great honor to serve as your President. I recognize there are many amazing leaders my senior in the club who would make amazing President's and I am so grateful to have the support of our membership!
During last week's meeting I gave the Inspirational Moment and recognized that through our collective energy we are creating something truly special! We all have "LIFE" going all around us, some going through hard times, transitions, celebrations, experiencing loss, and more. And yet, every week we come together in fellowship to make a positive impact in each other's lives, the lives of others, and our very own!
My commitment to you all stands firm! Not just to have FUN ... but to make sure everyone one of us feels the impact of our collective positive energy through fellowship and good works!
alright enough of that! On to the good stuff! Check out the amazing highlights from last week and throughout the month!
Let's all give a huge round of applause to our amazing Director of Community Relations, Monica Trepany! Monica has been going the extra mile since the inception of our amazing Club and we cannot thank her enough for making the development of MdR Rotary a priority! With Monica's leadership we've been able to find a permanent home for meetings, partnered with Fire Station 110, organized our first service project, and continues to be a positive advocate for our club throughout the Marina!
Monica, we thank you and appreciate everything you continue to do for our Club and Membership!
New Member Alert!
Welcome to the newest member of Marina del Rey Rotary, Mr. Geo Rocha! Geo comes to us as a Santa Barbara transplant, new to LA, and eager to jump in the deep end of Service Above Self! Standing in for Member, Susan Haeger, Tracey Thompson Busa presented Geo with his membership Pin, making his membership official!!
Congrats Geo! We all look forward to the great things you are destined to do in our Club and within the Global Community of Rotary!!
100% Paul Harris Fellow Club
Well we managed to knock it out of the park once again! I would be surprised if we were not the fastest club in the district and perhaps in the world of Rotary to become 100% Paul Harris in our first 90 days as a chartered club!!
Special THANK YOU to Member Gail Brooks for organizing this effort and helping our Club to cross the finish line becoming 100%
Retrouve & Rotary ~ Last Week's Meeting
Jami, Klaus and Hannah left us wanting more after last week's meeting! They shared their amazing life story and history of being a fourth generation family business originating from the legacy of Kiehls.
Known for their high-performance skincare solutions, and transformative science behind the brand, Retrouvé is equally committed to philanthropy, embodying values of giving back and fostering a kinder world. Their dedication to sustainability and social responsibility aligns perfectly with our mission to make a positive impact in our community and beyond.
On top of that, each member received a gift bag of samples and the Heidegger family made a generous donation to our Foundation of $1,000.
Join us for an inspiring evening with Lalo Marquez, a visionary artist and educator who has transformed the lives of countless young artists across Los Angeles. Born in Tabasco, Mexico, and raised in the vibrant city of Watts, Lalo's journey from self-taught doodler to nationally recognized art director is a testament to the power of creativity and determination.
