About the Foundation
Founded in 2024, the Marina del Rey Rotary Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our community through targeted project grants. As a California nonprofit, the Foundation is driven by the members of the Marina del Rey Rotary Club and serves as a vital resource for both local and international humanitarian efforts.
Mission & Vision
Our mission is to provide leadership, perpetual funding, and essential resources to support the diverse humanitarian efforts of the Rotary Club of Marina del Rey. We focus on empowering youth and fostering extraordinary accomplishments through the stewardship of a self-sustaining fund.
Our Impact
Locally, the Foundation supports numerous initiatives, such as the Boys & Girls Club’s Sailing Program, which engages 2,000 children in water-related activities across greater Los Angeles. Internationally, we contribute to various community and water-related projects, reflecting our commitment to making a global impact.
In 2024, our Foundation took a stand against human trafficking by raising awareness and funds for victims. A highlight of these efforts was a fundraiser hosted by MdR Rotarians Dave and Nancy Voss, where $30,000 was raised to support the 1736 Family Crisis Center. The event featured a daring 29-mile ocean kayak crossing from Catalina to San Pedro, led by community hero Rob DeCou and his team, drawing attention to this critical issue.
Key Functions of the Foundation
- Fund Distribution: We receive and allocate community-service funds generated by the Rotary Club for charitable purposes.
- Education: We inform new members, incoming Club Board Directors, and the broader Club membership about the Foundation’s mission and operations.
The Foundation is governed by the Club Board, ensuring that our efforts align with the values and goals of the Rotary Club of Marina del Rey.
